In de vroege ochtend van donderdag is een deel van de inwoners van IJsselstein extra vroeg wakker geworden.

Vanwege een langdurigde medische inzet aan de Valeriaan in de wijk Achterveld werden er twee traumahelikopters opgeroepen en waren er lange tijd gillende sirenes te horen. Uiteindelijk is een traumahelikopter net buiten de wijk geland, maar dat kon niet voorkomen dat inwoners gewekt werden.

In de traumahelikopter zit een arts die medische ondersteuning aan het ambulancepersoneel kan geven. De eerste melding van het incident kwam net na 05:00 uur binnen. Wat er precies aan de hand was, is niet bekend.
