ParkeerService beheert voor de gemeente IJsselstein de parkeerautomaten, de garages en geeft de parkeervergunningen af. ParkeerService is een samenwerking tussen 16 gemeenten, met als doel om zo efficiënt mogelijk te werken om zo een financieel voordeel uit de samenwerking te halen. ParkeerService loopt echter tegen een tekort aan van € 2.8 miljoen euro. Alle deelnemende gemeenten moeten dit tekort aanvullen om weer financieel gezond te worden, schrijft het AD Utrechts Nieuwsblad.
Dit kost de IJsselsteinse belastingbetaler € 194.000. Het parkeren in IJsselstein levert op deze manier niets op, het kost een berg met geld. Andere gemeenten in onze regio moeten ook flink betalen. Gemeenten dichtbij IJsselstein die ook aangesloten zijn bij ParkeerService zijn Nieuwegein en Woerden. Hoeveel zij moeten bijbetalen is niet duidelijk, maar dit zal een stuk meer zijn dan wat IJsselstein moet betalen. Een gemeente als Amersfoort gaat voor € 500.000 het schip in.
Als reden voor het tekort wordt aangegeven dat in het verleden de kostprijs voor de gemeenten nooit is gecorrigeerd voor inflatie, waardoor de kosten stegen maar de inkomsten niet. Daarnaast werden de tarieven in 2015 ook nog eens verlaagd, in de veronderstelling dat het bedrijf zou bezuinigen.
Uiteraard moeten er dan weer koppen rollen, want iemand heeft dit niet zien aankomen en die mag vervolgens het veld gaan ruimen. In dit geval is het oprichter en directeur John van Dijk samen met zijn ‘operations manager’.
De gemeente raad in IJsselstein heeft besloten om het tekort van -we gaan het nog een keer herhalen- € 194.000,00 te betalen uit de algemene reserve van onze stad. Hierdoor zullen de parkeertarieven niet stijgen.
Onder de deelnemende gemeenten zien wij dat steeds meer gemeenten een proef hebben lopen of willen gaan starten om het parkeren voor een bepaalde tijd gratis te maken. Op deze manier hopen zij meer bezoekers naar hun garages te krijgen. Wat de tarieven betreft hebben wij in IJsselstein niets te klagen, deze zijn in verhouding tot andere gemeenten vrij laag. Je moet dan wel kiezen voor een parkeergarage en niet voor een duurdere parkeerplek in de binnenstad.
